Rose Zealand

Rose was drawn into the Gunnison Valley in 2001 as a biology student at (then) Western State College, and other than a four year stint in Helena, Montana after graduating from Western, has settled into HOME here in the Gunnison Valley.  She’s enjoyed a variety of careers, including sustainability and innovation consulting, personal chef, edible landscaping, and insurance.  Her experience with insurance and the completion of a Financial Services Certified Professional designation led her into her current role as a Financial Advisor.

One of Rose’s proudest accomplishments is co-founding the local non-profit Mountain Roots Food Project in 2010, which continues to thrive and fulfill its mission today.  Her experience founding a non-profit  introduced her to the Community Foundation of the Gunnison Valley, as they were instrumental in helping a budding non-profit find its wings to fly.  After leaving the Mountain Roots board, it was just a matter of time until her service focus turned to the Foundation.  She FINALLY joined the board in January 2018!

In her (rare) spare time, Rose loves anything that involves learning something new.  Her favorite pass times are cooking and baking, gardening, knitting, hiking in the aspens and meadows, and most recently, hula hooping!
