Carol Johnson

Carol Johnson has been coming to the Gunnison Valley with her family since the early 1950s and has family roots in the Valley dating back to the 1880s. Her grandfather, who was on the first faculty of the college in Gunnison, was the founder, in 1928, of the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory, in Gothic. Her parents, Chris and Dorothy Johnson, gave over 50 years of service to RMBL. Carol held legal and executive management positions with a major financial services firm for 30 years and served on the RMBL Board of Trustees for 10 years. After “retiring” in 2007, she served as the Executive Director of the Amherst Cinema, a nonprofit, four-screen art house cinema in Amherst, Massachusetts that shows over 275 programs a year in more than 20 languages, until finally retiring for good in 2020.
