Grants and Funding Opportunities
Inspiring and Connecting People so Everyone Can Thrive
The vision guiding the work of CFGV is all about connecting people and resources to build a vibrant, engaged community. Our annual competitive Community Grants cycle is probably the most well-known funding opportunity we offer. However, it’s only one piece of the grants puzzle.
Below, we outline some ways that we might be able to connect you with resources that can help you or your organization implement your next great idea to build community in the Gunnison Valley. We encourage you to check them out. Even if none of them seem like the right fit for your project or program, we still encourage you to fill out the form below as there are more funding opportunities that staff may be able to connect you with.

Community Grants
Community Grants offers general operating support to nonprofit organizations, and project support to selected others. Grant dollars are intended for direct impact on Gunnison County and its residents.

Creative Community Fund
When Maryo Gard Ewell, CFGV’s former Director of Community Impact, retired, we wanted to honor her creative approach to solving community challenges. Individuals from across the community who were inspired by Maryo’s commitment to community gave generously to establish the Creative Community Fund. Grants from the fund will support artistic and creative solutions to community challenges. In true Maryo fashion, we encourage you to think outside the box.

Gunnison Valley Giving Connection
The Gunnison Valley Giving Connection receives fundraising requests from nonprofits and other charitable entities that serve Gunnison County. Our Community Grants program can’t meet every funding need for charitable activities in the Valley, so we created this program to allow community members to easily find and connect with opportunities to fund worthy causes.

Pamela G. Montgomery Nonprofit Leadership Fund
Pam Montgomery is the beloved former executive director of CFGV. She was the first employee hired by the Gunnison Area Community Foundation and shepherded that organization through the merger with the Crested Butte Community Foundation to become CFGV in 2007. The Pam Montgomery Nonprofit Leadership Fund honors her legacy of empowering and educating local nonprofit leaders. If your organization has a dream professional development opportunity that could make a significant difference for your staff, especially newcomers or seasoned leaders, the Pam Montgomery Fund might be able to help you access it.

Donor Advised Funds &
Field of Interest Funds
In partnership with generous community members, CFGV manages several million dollars in assets in Donor Advised Funds and Field of Interest Funds. One of the services we offer to Fund Advisors is “concierge giving” where we help them match their interests in important causes to programs and services offered by local nonprofit organizations. Often these Fund Advisors like to take on the role of a catalyst or a closer. If you can envision a role like that in a campaign you’re working on, please fill out the funding inquiry form below and we can try to connect you with someone new.

All Inquiries
Welcome!
If you don’t see a type of funding or grant your organization or program “fits” into, please fill in the form anyway. Our staff is quite knowledgable when it comes to matching organizations and opportunities.

“We are very grateful for financial support from CFGV, but we also value the process of writing a proposal to the Foundation. It requires us to clearly identify what we want to achieve and explain the impacts of our efforts. Proposal writing influences our planning process so that we can be more effective at positively contributing to our community.”
“When Gunnison Valley Mentors had the opportunity to transform Gunnison’s oldest standing public building into the 8th Street School Mentoring Center, we needed a way to separate capital funds from operating funds. We placed our complete trust in the Community Foundation of the Gunnison Valley to help us do so. Who better than the CFGV to help any of us oversee the growth and preservation of a community legacy?”
