Patricia “Patti” Ann Bouchard Bippus was the first principal of the Crested Butte Community School.  She longed to make the world better for children through education and expression.  Genuine and dedicated to her profession as an educator, she enjoyed mentoring teachers and helping students realize their potential.

She often quoted Richard Bach at commencement speeches and she lived this concept: The Bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but one of respect and joy in each other’s life.  Rarely do members of one family grow up under the same roof.  She reveled in the fact that she didn’t have a traditional family but in fact had a bigger, more loving family than most because of her ability to love so many.

To honor her devotion of education, her family created the Patti Bouchard Bippus Fund at CFGV.  The fund is endowed, which means it will endure forever – and Patti’s name will live on in the Valley as though she were still with us.

Each year, earnings from the fund will be used to make grants to education projects during CFGV’s Community Grant Cycle.  And, at some point, should there be a special education initiative in the valley, Patti may very well lead that charge.

While the family began the fund, anyone may contribute to grow the fund at any time so that each year more and more youngsters will benefit from her legacy.
